I have covered the Ottawa housing industry for more than a dozen years because it’s something I love doing. I don’t expect to be recognized for it, but when it happens, it’s most gratifying.
The most recent occurrence was being nominated this month for an award that’s given out by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association, of which I have been a member since I became homes editor at the Ottawa Citizen in 2011 and continued under All Things Home when Patrick Langston and I started our joint business.
The nomination is for the Colonel Boss Award, which is given annually to an association member to recognize outstanding dedication and service. It’s named for the association’s first executive director.
I’m one of four nominees and, given the incredible work of my co-nominees, I don’t expect to win, but I am most honoured and humbled to be recognized.
